General Suchinda was a key figure in the National Peace Keeping Council that seized power from General Chatichai Choonhavan on Saturday, February 23, 1991, until after the general election on January 22, 1992, five political parties, namely the Samakkhitham Party, the Chart Thai Party, the Social Action Party, the Thai People's Party, and the Ratsadon Party, joined together to form a government and supported General Suchinda to become Prime Minister.
